Chris Lewis-Jones

Chris Lewis-Jones is a cross-media artist, based at Flub Studios in Belper, Derbyshire, specialising in painting, drawing, live art performances, intervention and workshops.
His practice is informed by his interest in all things folklore and psychogeography, which explores urban environments that emphasize interpersonal connections to places and arbitrary routes.
Lewis-Jones undertakes private commissions, as well as exhibits, teaches, mentors and performs as a live artist, a spoken word artist and a musician. Workshops in visual art, carnival arts, and various psychogeographic activities from folk to samba were facilitated.

Since graduating from art school he has worked as a gardener, an archaeological illustrator, a gallery education officer, a carnival artist, a celebrant and a lecturer, as well as having taught at universities, colleges, hospitals, schools, and art galleries across the UK and beyond. He continues to teach drawing at Nottingham Trent University and I am an Associate Artist at Nottingham Contemporary. Throughout this time he has maintained a fine art practice: making work in the studio, exhibiting and performing in galleries.

Some of his works represent the UK and the British identity, which contains the flags of the country and things that may represent peoples' identity, such as tea, even if it is stereotypical.
